With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Harout Kolandjian, aged 93, on the morning of May 17th, 2012.
First, foremost and always devoted to his family, Harout will be missed and mourned by his wife of 71 years, his best friend and one great love, Dsovanouch; his loving children, Hratch, Vreij, and Rita; his daughters-in-law, son-in-law, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his extended family and countless friends who remember him as a man of few words, but great integrity, and a commitment to helping others selflessly.
Born in Aintab, Turkey, in April 1919, Harout’s travels took him to Ethiopia, Syria, and then to Lebanon, where he settled down, married and raised his family, supporting them through his craftsmanship as a jeweler. In 1980, he retired and immigrated to Canada, with his wife and daughter.
As he begins his eternal journey, he leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, kindness, caring and quiet leadership. He may be gone, but he most certainly will never be forgotten.
