The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jack Chan can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Jack Chan

June 12, 2021 – July 30, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79, surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband to Ann for 56 years and devoted father to John (Melody), Tanny (Dick Lee), Kathy (David Laan). Cherished grandfather and dearly missed by Stacie, Matthew, Jenna, Shannon, Jason, Stephen, Philip and Michael.

Predeceased by his sister Chen Yuk Ling Yu; he also leaves behind Chen Pik Ho Woo, Lili (Dirk DeJong) and Jean (Joe Dillon).

Jack will be remembered for his timeless generosity to help others in the Chinese Community both in Timmins and Toronto. On July 1, 2021 he was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal which was created to commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the Confederation of Canada and to honour the many Canadians who have provided valuable service to this country.

Jack always put others before himself and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all those whose life he touched.

We would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff in the ICU, respiratory and GI units on 8 West of North York General Hospital for their kindness and support during a difficult time.

Friends may call at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, North York (at Goulding south of Steeles) on Friday, August 9, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 10th in the R.S. Kane Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Princess Margaret Hospital or North York General Hospital will be greatly appreciated.
