The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Stanley Kane can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The Stan I knew

The period of time over which I knew Stan was relatively short but this photo of him represents the man that I knew well.  I remember a ready and encouraging smile and word from him every time I went for a lesson with Judith when he was around. I remember that he was an amazing carpenter and handy-man.  He was an inspiration to Clint, a carpenter himself, who also shared Stan's proud Scottish heritage.  Even my daughter, who last saw him when she was only a young child, remembers Stan!  He was so kind and friendly with her.  One of my most memorable singing opportunities was given to me by Stan whe his Gilbert and Sullivan Society members staged "Amahl and the night visitors" - he gave me the honour of singing the role of the mother for half of the perfomances and encouraged me so much!  I haven't seen Stan since he and Judih moved from Calgary all those years ago but knowing that he is gone now makes me sad, but also happy for having known him. Stan's passion, talents, and kindness have made this world a much richer place.
